Hwy 5 widening Reynolds to Alexander, anybody seen stakes yet?

Anybody seen survey stakes or utility trucks along 5 between Reynolds and Alexander yet? Ardot said dirt would move summer 2026 but I heard the utilities got to be moved first so more like 2027 before they really start. Some of those businesses are gonna loose land too. Saw this on the news: KATV: ARDOT plans for Highway 5 expansion

Ive drove that road since it was 2 lane and nobody cared. Five lanes will be nice when its done but the mess in between is what worrys me. I'll prob just take the back roads and leave early. How yall plan to get around?

I'm out on Alexander Road and haven't seen any stakes or utility trucks yet, at least not on my end. Just the normal traffic. If they really are moving utilities first then 2027 sounds right, those jobs always drag.

My worry is the back roads. Everybody's gonna have the same idea as you and then Alexander turns into the bypass, and it's not really built for that. Add a wet spring with all the storms we get and it's gonna be a mess either way.

Some of those businesses losing land is the part that bugs me more honestly. Hope they get a fair shake on it.

Good point about Alexander, I hadnt thought of that. Narrow road with them ditches on both sides, it wont take much traffic to back it up. Guess ill just leave 15 min early and eat it. Agree on the businesses too, state never pays what the land is really worth to the owner.

Brooklyn's right about Alexander. I remember when that road was barely wide enough for two cars to pass without somebody easing over into the grass, and it hasn't changed much. Once folks start cutting through, those ditches are going to be a real problem, especially after a hard rain.

On the businesses, if anybody does lose a strip of their lot, I'd read every page of what ARDOT sends before signing anything, and maybe talk to someone who handles right-of-way cases. Then check with the county assessor about the assessment on what's left. In my experience property taxes don't always adjust on their own, you have to ask.

good tip on the assesor thing, never would of thought about that. I'm downtown so not right on it but we use 5 every saturday for ball games, gonna be rough once they start 😅 prob leave way earlier and hit the coffee place first lol

Thanks!

leave early and you'll still sit behind someone turning left into the coffee place, 5 lanes or not. the one upside is the contractors usually hire flaggers and equipment guys once it starts, so somebody local gets a paycheck out of it.

Ha, that's what the center turn lane is for... once it's done anyway. Until then I figure everybody just creeps along. Saturday market traffic is going to be something too... Just my two cents
